My mother's maiden name was Jones, and her grandfather was born in Wales. She was a gifted pianist, and often accompanied the Men's Chorale of the Cambrian Society here in San Diego. The final piece of music at her memorial service in 1997 was the Welsh National Anthem, and members of the Cambrian Society in attendance spontaeously sang it in Welsh. I cherish that memory.

My daughter and I have visited Wales twice. Our first visit was to the Eisteddfed in St. David in 2002, then to Cardiff. It was a meaningful experience to hear the Welsh National Anthem performed with full orchestra and choir at the Eisteddfed. Our second trip to Wales was in 2004 to Betws Y Coed and surrounding area, and Caernarvon. We took the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin. It was a magical trip, and I would be honored to serve as an Ambassador for North Wales. I look forward to returning with the rest of my family someday.

I have visited Wales twice and find it one of the most beautiful and relaxing places. My first trip took me to a small town named LLANFAIRPWLLGWYNGYLLGOGERYCHWYRNDROBWLLLLANTYSILIOGOGOGOCH which in English means The Church Of Mary In The Hollow Of The White Hazel Near The Fierce Whirlpool And The Church Of Tysilio By The Red Cave. The town's short name is Llanfair P.G. You will find visiting the many castles of Wales built by King Edward I, to be a real treat especially Caernarfon Castle where the investiture of the Prince of Wales takes place. This past February I visited the Snowdonia National Park area and stayed in the picturesque city of Betws-y-Coed at Church Hill House B&B. The accommodations were clean and the food was good. People are very friendly and outdoor activities in the area are numerous. North Wales is the home of the famous Welsh Love Spoon still a cottage industry today. Shopping in Wales you will find many unique gifts made of wool and slate and of course the wooden love spoons. There is also a good selection of gifts for the football (soccer) enthusiast. I have been to Wales in the months of October and February and found it pleasant, but cool and for people coming from dry climates the coolness can be a little bone chilling so be prepared. I have never been disappointed with any of the restaurants (be sure to try a lamb dish as fresh lamb is always available and a nice change from beef and chicken). It goes without saying that fresh fish and chips are also a must and a favorite of mine. Wales is very seldom mentioned when people travel to the UK but you won't regret going and most of all ENJOY YOUR STAY!!!!

My wife and I have had the pleasure of visiting Wales on six trips. We have found it to be a wonderful place to tour and would highly recommend that visitors spend several days covering as much of it as possible

North Wales is truly beautiful! I have hiked around Snowdonia National Park, visited Conwy and Caernafron Castle, and walked along the shores of Lligwei Beach in Anglesy. I live and work in the Pacific island of Guam and I travel to the UK every summer. North Wales is always on my itinerary. I feel so far away from the ordinary every second I am in Wales.

I would be honored to be selected as an ambassador for North Wales! I've been there four times over the past 14 years....... My most recent visit to Wales was just five weeks ago, and I'm looking forward to getting there again -whenever time and money permit. It's my favorite place to visit!”

I visited North Wales last March and plan to return again to the same area this March. I am a history lover (medival) and the history of Wales is facinating. My visit allowed me to visit all the places I had read about and I was not disappointed. I was enchanted; I could see in my mind's eye, the Llywlyns (Llywelyn's) and their fight for an independent Wales..........I also could see why they fought. What a beautiful land!”

We had a lovely time in Wales, the people were helpful and friendly, the scenery was breathtaking (the best I've seen in the UK) and the experience left us with warm memories. We will definitely be returning next year. A truly memorable experience.
